The yacht Dilbar is a 157 meter (512 ft) superyacht built by Lurssen. She is the world’s biggest yacht measured by interior volume. She has been delivered to her owner in May 2016. Her exterior design is by Espen Oeino. Dilbar is the world’s largest yacht measured by volume, she has a very high gross tonnage. (Azzam is longer but with less volume. Dilbar has an amazing large living space.). She has the largest (indoor) pool ever installed on a yacht. Dilbar is said to be heading for a large 8-month refit in 2021/2022. Usmanov bought the Lurssen yacht Tis as a temporary yacht. He named her Lady Gulya.
Specifications
The luxurious yacht has a steel hull and an aluminum superstructure. She is powered by 6 power plants. Which produces a total horsepower of 40,000hp. She reaches a top speed of 22.5 knots. Her cruising speed is 16 knots. We estimate her range at least at 6,000nm.
Guests and Crew
The yacht’s interior is designed by Winch Design. The yacht has a large swimming pool on the main deck. She can accommodate 36 guests and has a crew of 96. We believe her Captain is Tim Armstrong.
She replaced the previous Dilbar. Which was sold by Usmanov to the Royal Family of Bahrain, and is now named Al Raya.
We estimate her cost price between US$ 800 million and US$ 1 billion. This amount is based on her gross tonnage (15,917t) and a value of US$ 65,000 per ton. This value per ton is based on the contract price of recent Northern European built yachts.
Yacht Ona (now Al Raya)
Al Raya is a 110m (361 ft) steel yacht with an aluminum superstructure. She is built by Lürssen and launched in 2008. She accommodates 16 passengers and 47 crew. The design is by Tim Heywood with an interior done by Alberto Pinto.
Ona was the first yacht in the world with particle filters on the main engine exhausts. Ona has two MTU diesel-electric main engines. The yacht can reach a maximum speed of 21 knots. She is built to the rules of Germanischer Lloyd.
Owner
The yacht’s owner is Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov.
Dilbar Seized by German Authorities
March 3, 2022 – According to international media the yacht Dilbar has been seized by German Authorities.
The yacht was seized as her owner Alisher Usmanov was sanctioned by the EU following the Russian aggression towards Ukraine.
Dilbar was docked in Hamburg at Blohm and Voss, for a refit.
Mr. Usmanov released a statement: “I believe that such a decision is unfair and the reasons employed to justify the sanctions are a set of false and defamatory allegations damaging my honor, dignity and business reputation.”
A few days later all crew was terminated, due to the fact that all operations have ceased.
Appeal
Usmanov appealed the European Union’s decision to impose strict sanctions on him and his assets. But early July 2022 it was reported that he lost the appeal.
Sister Gulbahor Ismailova
According to research by the German magazine Tachesschau, the yacht is legally owned by Usmanov’s sister Gulbahor Ismailova. And therefore the yacht should not be subject to sanctions (at least.. that is what the Usmanov family claims).
Update: Investigations by the German Federal Criminal Police Office (Bundeskriminalamt) revealed that Alisher Usmanov indirectly transferred assets to his sister Gulbakhor Ismailova. In particular, the owner of the yacht “Dilbar” is Navis Marine Ltd. (Cayman Islands), whose shareholder is Almenor Holdings Ltd. (Cyprus). All shares in that holding company are held by Pomerol Capital SA (Switzerland) in trust for the benefit of “The Sisters Trust”. Since 2017, Alisher Usmanov has no longer been a shareholder of this trust company, leaving his sister, Gulbakhor Ismailova, as the only beneficial owner of the yacht “Dilbar”
